Culture (Ecozone tours)
An authentic insight into the traditional GHNP lifestyle reveals it unique culture. Traditional song and dance is deeply woven into the fabric of the culture here and the festivals present an apt opportunity to sample the dynamic, interpersonal, educational and aesthetic flavours of this region.
These tours bring to you the culture of indigenous people through their art, craft forms, their homes, cuisine and lifestyle. The highlight of this eco holiday is to experience a new culture and enrich your knowledge through fun, interesting activities.
Distance Covered: 12 kms (round trip)
Moderate to steep climb to the temple.
This is a one to two day trek which includes a visit to a 200 year old Hindu temple and little-known meditation centre.
The temple has intricate and exquisite wood carvings. Travellers will have an opportunity to listen to Hindu prayers and witness their unique and distinct practices that add diversity to the culture of the region and have flourished in the Sainj Valley for generations.
An additional side trip of 4 km will take the traveller to a 250 year old tower like monument at the Talyara village.

Moderate elevation gain
A three day trek mountain trails and the villages of Shangarh and Lapah. Set on the highlands of this magnificent valley, the trail traverses along GHNP’s highest settlements.
Each village along this trail is adorned by traditional but unique architecture. The traveler will have the opportunity to interact with students, farmers and women weavers.
The trek includes a visit to a local nursery where medicinal plants and trees are cultivated. Local cultural dances can be organized in the villages on prior request giving one a glimpse of cultural festivities.

Easy to Moderate trek
This is one or two day trek from Gushaini to Tinder village which offers an insight into the village life, its cultural aspects and a walk through forests up to Kharongcha.
Each village along this trail is adorned by traditional but unique architecture. The traveler will have the opportunity to interact with students, farmers and women weavers.
Activities that can be included with this trek (with an extra day): Fishing/River Crossing/Rock Climbing/Rappelling.
Distance Covered: 10 kms
Moderate to steep climb
This is a one or two day trek in the magnificent Sainj river valley which includes a steep climb to the ancient villages of Saran and Pashi Villages. These villages have very old houses and distinct local architecture which offer insight into the village life and its cultural aspects.
Hiking through traditional villages, beautiful vistas, sacred groves and terrace fields will give the traveler an authentic understanding of the life and culture of here.
Ghat Seri has a 12 acre sacred grove which is one of the examples of local biological diversity conserved in the forest area.
Local cultural dances can be organized in the villages on prior request giving one a glimpse of cultural festivities.

Festivals:
Village fairs and festivals occur year-round.
Local songs and dances are also performed and villagers dress in traditional costumes. Respectful observation by outsiders is welcomed.

In several villages near the edge of the park (Pekri, Nahi, Tinder, and Phredi) there is a special festival for four days in February called Fagli. This is a secular festival with masked dances and lots of merry-making. There is also a month-long festival starting in mid-January which emphasizes visits with relatives and special foods.
A yearly fishing competition, sponsored by the Department of Fisheries, is also held along the Tirthan River in the fall. The famous Dushera Festival, held in the town of Kullu during October, is a major event for the whole region.

Adventure
The tours offer an opportunity to experience serious trekking by traversing through remote and pristine trails. The focus is on adventure activities that involve physical exercise, human power and endurance. These tours are ideal for those wanting new eco adventures with an exciting and dynamic integration of various adventure aspects by field experts.

This is an eight day moderate to strenuous trek crossing two valleys of the Great Himalayan National Park. Trekkers will get an opportunity to experience the transitions between two dramatic valleys.
Day 1: Arrive at Kullu. Drive to Neuli Tourist Center
Distance: 55 km
Time: 2 and ½ hours
Day 2: Trek from Neuli (1500m) to Shakti (2100m)
Distance covered: 22 kms
Moderate to hard climb
Make your way through the scenic surrounding to the park accommodation at Shakti.
Day 3: Trek from Shakti (2100m) to Homkhani Forest (2800m)
Distance Covered: 6 kms
Moderate to hard trek
Walk through dense forests, bamboo/walnut trees and medicinal herbs. Camp overnight at the Lower Meadow Bridge in the Homkhani Forest.
Day 4: Trek from Homkhani Forest (2800m) to Dhel (3737m)
Distance Covered: 6 kms
Moderate to hard climb
Trek through dense forests, walnut trees and ascent to a unique high altitude meadow and an isolation that transcends the barriers of time leaves the traveler spell bound by the magic of what we like to call the GHNP experience.
Day 5: Rest Day at Dehl
Go for walks and treks and perhaps if you are lucky see the critically endangered wildlife including the elusive Snow Leopard. The landscapes are magical; the treks are incredible, daytime temperatures are pleasant here in the mountains of GHNP. Trek to Jogni (outdoor prayer sites) and little-known meditation centers.
Day 6: Trek from Dehl to Guntrao (3500m-4120m)
Distance Covered: 15 kms
Hard to Strenuous trek
Opportunity to not only test ones physical and mental strength as one moves through some harsh, rugged and truly stunning high altitude terrain but it is also an experience to witness some of the remotest areas. Navigate through very narrow paths with sheer drops of 200m. Trekkers must be in very good shape.
Day 7: Rest Day at Guntrao.
Early morning risers will have an opportunity to view the Himalayan Tahr and the Musk deer.
Day 8: Trek from Guntrao (4120m) to Shilt (3100m)
Distance Covered: 16 kms
Moderate up and downhill walk
Lush Bamboo forests, streams and waterfalls make the entire setting picture perfect. Visit some stunning high altitude wetland areas and experience tranquility and pristine environments like never before.
Day 9: Shilt (3100m) to Gushaini Village (1500m)
Distance Covered: 15 kms
Steep decent through dense forest
Walk through long mud paths and exit the GHNP into the Ecozone. Opportunity to talk to local villagers in the Ecozone and the trek ends at the Sairopa Tourist centre.
Return to Kullu the next day.

A five day Moderate to Strenuous trek crossing through the Sainj River Valley. We go up and deep into the stunning and graphic valley of the Sainj River passing through dense forests and high-altitude meadows.
If you have 6 days:
Day 1: Arrive at Kullu. Drive down to Neuli Tourist Center.
Day 2: Trek from Neuli (1500m) to Shakti (2100m)
Distance covered: 22 kms
Moderate trek
Make your way through the intricate, wind and water-sculpted Himalayan highlands to the park accommodation at Shakti. A completely non technical trek in terms of scaling, it requires nothing more than a good pair of hiking shoes and a walking stick.
Day 3: Trek from Shakti (2100m) to Homkhani Forest (2800m)
Distance Covered: 6 kms
Moderate trek
Walk through dense forests, bamboo/walnut trees and medicinal herbs. Camp overnight at the Lower Meadow Bridge in the Homkhani Forest.
Day 4: Rest Day in the campsite at Lower Meadow Bridge
Go for a walk and if you are lucky you could catch a glimpse of endangered wildlife including the elusive Snow Leopard. The landscapes are magical; the treks are incredible, daytime temperatures are pleasant here in the mountains of GHNP.
Day 5: Homkhani Forest to Lapah park accommodation.
Day 6: Return to Neuli (1500m) Tourist Centre.

Day 7: Trek from Homkhani Forest (2800m) to Dhel (3737m)

Trek through dense forests and ascent to a unique high altitude meadow and an isolation that transcends the barriers of time leaves the traveler spell bound by untouched beauty of GHNP. Great opportunity to observe wildlife in this region.

Activities like rock climbing and rappelling are available.
Dinner will be served under the stars and camp overnight in the wilderness
Day 3: Trek from Rola (2100m) to Shilt Medow (3100m)
Distance Covered: 7 kms
Moderate trek
Walk through dense forests, bamboo/walnut trees and medicinal herbs. Take a stop to enjoy the chhordwari waterfalls.
Day 4: Return from Shilt Hut to Gushaini Village
Distance Covered: 30 kms
Steep descent through dense forest
Return to Kullu the next day.
If you have 5 days:
Day 5: Spend the day at the Sairopa tourist centre and visit a local village.
Village visits offer an opportunity to interact with villagers and observe their daily activities cooking, farming, weaving etc.

Return to Kullu the next day.

The Forest Learning Program at GHNP seeks to introduce students to the vibrant ecosystems in of the Himalayas.
Another aim of the Forest Learning Program is to expose participants to the critical role of forests in maintaining the viability and vitality of earth as a living planet.
Day 1: Arrival at Sairopa Tourist centre. Orientation session and visit to the local nursery and Trout farm.
Orientation Session: Introduction to GHNP and issues involved in conservation through a slideshow presentation.
Bio-diversity Walk: An in-camp activity, in which participants will document, with the help of local NGO staff, the plant diversity in and around camp site as well as the commercial and medicinal uses of prominent trees and plants.
Day 2: Gushaini-Tinder Village Loop
Distance Covered: 6 kms (5 hrs)
Easy to Moderate trek
This trek offers an insight into the village life, its cultural aspects and a walk through forests up to Kharongcha. Each village along the trail is adorned by traditional but unique architecture. The students will have the opportunity to interact with local students, farmers and women weavers. Hikers will experience traditional villages, beautiful vistas, sacred groves and terrace agricultural fields. This will give the students an authentic understanding of the life and culture surrounding the Park. Local cultural dances can be organized in the villages on prior request giving a glimpse of cultural festivities.
